One Year of Motherhood: What It Taught Me About Success in Business
Share
Today, my little girl turns one.
One whole year of motherhood.
A year that has stretched my heart in ways I didn’t know were possible.
As I reflect on these twelve months, I’m filled with gratitude; not only for the gift of my daughter but for the experience itself. I had a wonderful pregnancy and an even better birth. My first year of motherhood has been relatively smooth, joyful, grounding, and deeply aligned. And while I know every woman’s journey is unique, I also know this to be true:
My mindset, my belief system, and my willingness to work on my energy played a huge part in shaping my experience.
I consciously chose to trust my body.
I chose to lean into intuition rather than fear.
I chose to soften, surrender, and stay connected to something bigger than myself ... source, spirit, the quiet wisdom within.
These choices didn’t eliminate challenges.
But they changed how I met them.
And this, I believe, is exactly how success in business is created too.
Motherhood & Business Have the Same Secret Ingredient
When we look at women thriving in their businesses, it’s easy to assume they have something special; more time, more confidence, a bigger network, a better strategy.
Truthfully?
The real difference is almost always internal.
Just like in motherhood, business success is shaped by:
✓ The beliefs you hold
✓ The energy you embody
✓ The mindset you strengthen
✓ The inner work you’re willing to do
✓ The way you support yourself through challenges rather than shrink from them
I prepared for birth the same way I prepare for expansion in business:
– By regulating my nervous system
– By choosing empowering thoughts (and not taking on other people's opinions!)
– By visualising the outcome I desired
– By catching fears before they spiralled
– By trusting that I was supported
This is feminine leadership.
This is heart-led entrepreneurship.
This is where strategy and soul meet.
Your Inner World Creates Your Outer Results
One of the biggest lessons this year taught me is this:
Life meets you where your energy is.
Business meets you where your belief is.
If you believe it's going to be hard… it becomes hard.
If you believe you’re alone… you feel alone.
If you believe you’re not ready… opportunities slip by.
But when you believe:
“I am supported.”
“I can handle what comes.”
“My success is inevitable.”
“I’m safe to expand.”
…everything shifts.
You see possibilities instead of problems.
You take intuitive action instead of overthinking.
You attract aligned clients, opportunities, and ideas.
You lead with heart instead of fear.
Motherhood reminded me that we’re far more powerful when we trust ourselves - truly trust ourselves - and business is no different.
The Truth Is: You Can Create a Business That Feels Like Ease, Not Struggle
I know the entrepreneurial road can feel overwhelming, confusing, and lonely. There are moments of self-doubt, dips in confidence, and times where nothing seems to move. I hear this from so many of the women I support and of course I've experienced it myself!
But the truth is:
You are not stuck ... you are simply being invited to go inward.
The path to more clients, more abundance, more clarity, more joy…
It doesn’t start with doing more.
It starts with thinking differently, feeling differently, trusting differently.
It starts with the mindset and energy you bring to your business every single day.
A Final Reflection
As I celebrate my daughter’s first birthday, I’m also celebrating a deeper knowing within myself:
My experience of pregnancy, birth, motherhood, business, is not luck.
It’s alignment.
It’s intention.
It’s inner work.
It’s choosing to show up from a place of love instead of fear.
And you can choose the same.
Wherever you are in your business journey right now, I hope this serves as a reminder that:
✓ You are powerful beyond measure
✓ Your beliefs shape your reality
✓ Your energy sets the tone for everything
✓ And the more you trust yourself, the more life (and business) flows with you
Here’s to softening your grip, strengthening your belief, and leading your business the way you lead your life — with heart.
